Licence to operate a Forklift Truck – TLILIC0003

Course Information

Duration: 2 day course

Times: 7:30am – 4:00pm approx.

Cost: $445.00 (Weekends in Williamstown $550.00)

A forklift is a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage with a pair of fork arms attached to lift loads.

This course covers the skills required to safely & productively operate a forklift truck, at your workplace, and if successful (competent), allows students to apply to WorkSafe Victoria for their High Risk Work (HRW) Licence for LF – Forklift Truck Operation.

Course Overview

Day 1:

Students are trained / prepared for their written / knowledge, calculations & practical / driving assessments.

Day 2:

Students attempt to successfully complete their Calculations, Knowledge & Practical assessments.

Course Outline

Identifying hazards & implementing hazard controls
Conduct a pre - start & start up check on the machine
Calculating load weight & forklift capacity
Driving the forklift
Operating a loaded forklift
Load placement on the ground and into different levels of pallet racking.
Park & Shut down the forklift safely

Certification

Students who are deemed competent, will receive a Notice of Assessment (Temporary licence) from their trainer, that will allow them to legally operate a forklift truck immediately. Students are then required to apply to WorkSafe Victoria, either online or at the Post Office, for their full licence card / digital licence, within 60 days of successfully completing the course. High Risk Work Licence fees are currently $71.55 for 5 years.

Student requirements

At least 18 years old
Have good language & literacy skills, reading & writing
Current Photo ID – Australian Drivers Licence, Passport (Australian or International), Proof of Age card or Keypass
Willingness to study their highlighted study material, the night before their assessments.

Onsite Forklift Refresher Course

These are normally a half day course, conducted at your workplace, to provide your licenced employees, with additional forklift training, to promote forklift safety, reinforce basic forklift fundamentals and update them on any changes within OH&S law.

Duration: 4 hours
Cost: From $140.00 each (Group of 5 to 8)

VOC – Verification Of Competency

These are short practical assessments on prospective employees a business is considering employing, or an assessment on existing employee, that has been involved in a workplace incident or accident.
These are designed to pin point desirable candidates from a pool of job applicants. Alternatively, they can be used to see if the employee has the required current skill base to continue the safe operation of a forklift at work.

Duration: 30 minutes.
Cost: $100 per person.
